About Us

Pastor Ed is a graduate of Cal State Long Beach where he received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He graduated from Talbot Seminary of Biola University with an M.Div in Christian Education and later with a Th.M. in Exposition.

Pastor Ed has served as the Sr. Pastor of Sierra Vista Baptist Church since 2004. Together with his staff, Pastor Ed’s ministry is marked by solid biblical truths shared through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word along with caring for God’s people. Pastor Ed’s teaching style is expositional. He is committed to the systematic teaching of the Bible - one paragraph at a time - through exploring the historical background of the writing’s setting, genre, and its associated grammatical meaning toward application in everyday life.

Pastor Ed has been married to Carla for 31 years. Together they have raised four boys, all now adults. Carla is a homeschool mom, writer, and Biola University instructor.

Pastor Ed was raised in Vista, California in a nominal Roman Catholic home before finding Christ at age 19. He served with Campus Crusade for Christ while in college and went on three short term missions trips. He has also worked with a number of church ministries. Having raised boys, he has also managed several Little League teams.
